BIOGRAPHY
Born in London during the Blizz, from an early age she had a passion for art, like so many children do, but however for her this passion persisted. At seventeen she entered St Martin's school of Art London. Here the art studies were interrupted when in 1962 the family moved to a fishing village in the south of France. She was accepted at l'Ecole Nationale des Arts Décoratif, Nice, where her studies were persued till acquiring the Diplôme Nationale des Beaux Arts, Paris, Six years later. Despite having a large family and thanks to the support of her husband she continued painting, baby in one arm and a paint brush in the other.
WHAT DOES ART REPRESENT FOR ME
" My approach to art has undergone numerous changes over the years so I shall try to put into words the principal tendencies which are the most recurring. I fluctuate between figurative and abstract and often the two overlap. The initial can start either from an abstract foundation or a figurative one till the two merge into one and unique painting.
I have never sought to express a social or political opinion and have avoided being a lesson giver, there are plenty doing that already.
I love all periods of art, visiting museums, going to exhibitions and now there is even Instagram.
For me the creative act is initiated by music which goes straight through me to the canvas, it is so absolutely immediate and absolutely abstract.
These past couple of years I have been focusing on abstract expressionism through which I can explore infinite possibilities, a fabulous and sometimes perilous adventure. It may seem accidental and hazardous but in fact it has it's own vocabulary, balance and structure which are not initiated by the intellect but from a deeper source, disconcerting and incomprehensible to some! "
